REEVE Family History

This unusual and interesting surname is of Anglo-Saxon origin, and is an occupational name for a steward or bailiff, the precise character of whose duties varied from place to place and at different periods. It derives from the Middle English "reeve", a development of the Olde English pre 7th Century "(ge)refa", meaning reeve (steward, bailiff). Job-descriptive surnames originally denoted the actual occupation of the namebearer, and later became hereditary. The surname dates back to the early 13th Century (see below), and early recordings include: Sampson le Reve (1273) in the Hundred Rolls of Suffolk, and James le Reve (1281) in the Calendar of Letter Books of the City of London.

The most eminent descendant of Joseph Mary Reeve Hastings is Rodrigo Paillacar Reeve, candidate to Doctor at La Sorbonne,Paris,France;son of Rosalbina Reeve Muñoz,History Teacher and Eliecer Paillacar,Chilean Biologist, yet unfortunatly death.

FYI there's a Reeve Hastings who left England heading to Chile no later the year 1843. He was Joseph Mary Reeve Hastings born around 1922, some say Scotland others say England. His mother Ann Hastings and father named Joseph Reeve too. Now with low cost DNA testing from family tree databases like Myheritage or others companies is getting so easy to find Dni relatives around the world.

There is an extremely strange person,he is an engineer, year (1800-1870), he came from Scotland, but his mother was Rawdon, from Ireland, his name was Joseph Reeve Hastings and his mother was, Anne Elizabeth Rawdon-Hastings. She had two children in this marriage. The essential is, that there is no information about this brothers in mass media.
