At one time Donegal was thought to have more illicit stills than the rest of the island combined and we at Sliabh Liag Distillers have set out to reclaim this rich distilling heritage. An Ddarrian Irish Maritime Gin Distillery is the first legitimate distillery in Donegal for over 175 years. At its heart is a 500-litre hand-hammered copper still, lovingly called Meabh (she who intoxicates). The multi-award winning An DOlaman Irish Maritime Gin is distilled and bottled on site in tiny batches. Described as a love letter to the Donegal coast, An Dblaman is distilled using eleven botanicals, five of which are locally harvested varieties of seaweed, capturing what we call Draiocht na Farraige (the magic of the sea). The distillery is also home to Assaranca Vodka, infused with rowan berries and locally foraged gorse flowers, the vodka is an ode to the calm of the Donegal hills. The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey, inspired by the legends of the Donegal coast, is a blend of the finest sourced Irish whiskeys, bottled and labelled at the distillery.
